EVERY FAIR FROM FAIR SOMETIME DECLINES

Hong Kong, 2020

Human tend to react to images by making up meanings and stories with the visual elements they are

shown, and materials they could find from their personal life experiences and memories.

The artist CHU finds resemblance between the timeline of the production of a photographic work and that

of red wine. She suspects human’s interpretation of photographic works, as well as their feelings towards

them, change over time, just like how wine would after it’s unbottled.

By replacing the label of 4 used red wine bottles with photos CHU took, the work aims to lure viewers into

thinking the space, time, feelings the image captured are what the bottles contain. And thus the question

arises: when left unbottled, would the flavors of the content change?
